In 2006, Google initiated what is called the Quality Initiative. What is PPC/SEM?

PPC (Pay Per Click) Marketing is a unique marketing channel in which advertisers enter an auction and bid on keywords relevant to their businesses. The higher your bid and 'quality score' the higher your ad will be in the auction. So for example, your are selling widgets or your service is widget fixer. You would bid on the keyword 'widget' and you would compete with all advertiser's.

Why can't I just grab a few thousand keywords and manage them myself?

Paid Search Marketing can be infinitely complex with hundreds of thousands of keywords which are being bidded on by hundreds of thousands of advertisers all competing for the same 10-20 spots on Google, Yahoo and the other search engines. It is a full-time job and requires relationships with the engines, careful analysis and experience. More importantly by outsourcing your paid search advertising to an expert team you can focus on your product/service and allow us to worry about promoting that product/service.

Aren't organic rankings more trusted/clicked-on by consumers? Why not focus my efforts on organic search results?

Data has shown that having BOTH organic and paid listings can dramatically increase your market share and results. Typically users will click on both as they research your product or service. SERP (Search Engine Results Pages) real-estate as it's called will help you capture market share and capture a synergy not possible with an either-or approach. Moreover, organic listings can take several months or years for very competitive terms whereas PPC is immediate traffic.

Google and Yahoo are interested in making money per click, that's their only goal. As your representative we are your advocate and expert and our goal is not clicks, its conversions.

Leveraging other techniques, are there other ways I can succeed via Search Marketing? I don't know much about Video SEO and SMO? How would those help me?

PPC is always the best start to any search campaign but in this competitive landscape it may not be enough by itself. This is where 'Fusion Search' comes into play. As I mention in a recent article—with increasing costs and competition in search, marketers must continue to be creative to achieve a high return on advertising spend. Fusion campaigns are based on long-tail keywords that cost little and return a lot and can be used for SMO (Social Media Optimization) and Video SEO. For more on this topic you can hear a recent interview of our Director of Search
